2021.12.02 19:27 JustOneLazyMunchlax Slice of Life or Lackluster longterm goals - Transitions to an Ending

I've always enjoyed reading Slice of Life, whether it be a portion of a book or the entire story.
Now, for clarification, when I'm referring to SoL, I refer to stories that "Follow a protagonist through their life", specifically Stories that focus on the MC and what they do, rather than an overarching narrative / plot.
One of the issues I've found in stories that start off that way, is when the author tries to end it without giving it an overarching plot.
One fantasy story I read, had the main character having a series of short term goals that can be summed up as "Must get stronger" based on the idea of having Enemies they need to defeat, or a short term goal to meet for the sake of survival.
And that was the key to their goal, Survival. So what is the ending for such a narrative? The author failed to really transition into a true goal, and I felt the ending was a let down.
In your opinion, how would you transition such a story for an ending?
Would you go the route of reaching "Survivable"? Would you make the character undergo a drastic change so they have something they want? Or force a goal on them?
I've seen stories where characters get dragged into some big conspiracy or fight, and THAT becomes the goal, even though it had nothing to do with what they originally wanted.
Does a story where the goal is more of a vague concept such as survival or getting stronger, work in an entertaining way without changing that goal to something more complex?

I find Guard +1 to be very useful as it allows me to Guardpoint -> AED attacks like Shagaru's rock smash.
But when do I need Guard +2? I heard it is useful against Tigrex and Brachydios but what moves generally?

2021.12.02 19:27 F-Accounting Don't Choose Accounting - For Those Considering This Career

Unless you have these items on your resume, in order of importance:

I've worked in industry accounting for ten years and regret it immensely. I was not one of the lucky few chosen by the Big 4 right out of college, and found it nearly impossible to find my first job. To give you some context as to how picky the Big 4 are, the acceptance rate at my university was 0.5%. Not to be discouraged, I applied for accounting jobs indiscriminately, public or industry, for anything paying at least $10/hour, just to get that first accounting experience.
After over 300 applications, I finally got my first job at a small company, well below average pay, of course. Since then, I've been pigeonholed as an accountant whose expertise is only in small firms, in blue-collar industries. Obviously, the idea is that I am not skilled enough for accounting at larger companies or in other industries. The irony is, even when I apply at small-medium sized companies, many of them list Big 4, CPA, and/or public accounting experience as a requirement. If I don't list these credentials on Indeed/LinkedIn/ZipRecruiter, my application gets filtered out and does not get viewed. The HR reps posting these jobs don't know anything about accounting.
There are many barriers to entry in attaining Big 4 and/or CPA. The first being that you need to be extremely sociable and extroverted to get into a Big 4. When they announced who got into the Big 4 from my university, everyone knew exactly who they were. They were not the top students in class. They had the most outgoing personalities, had large social circles, and were often physically attractive. If I was that type of person, I would've gone into sales, not accounting.
Second, you need to have experience in public accounting to get into public accounting. I guess I could quit my job and apply for an hourly clerical job at a local accounting firm, but $15/hour is not going to pay my bills. I'm in my 30s now. Am I supposed to sacrifice my livelihood to get a license which, in many cases, is not even applicable to industry work? Most of those companies already have an outside CPA. This would be just to get through the requirement filter.
Third, and the biggest lie that people in this subreddit tell, is that you can get into Big 4 later in your career. I've had several years of experience as a Controller (at small companies) and had my resume reviewed and polished up by professionals. In addition, I have a friend working at a Big 4, who referred me to a position that I think I'm qualified for and does not require a CPA, and I recently (last month) got turned down. This was my best chance of getting in.
Increasingly, I see more jobs posted requiring a Master's degree. I doubt that's useful when the CPA already requires 150 credit hours, a requirement that's changed since I graduated, and for the worse. They are making the CPA an even more exclusive club than it already is. That's good for those who already have one. For me, at this point in my life, it feels ridiculous to make another big commitment for those additional 30 credits.
Because I realized this was a credentials-driven profession, I passed the tests and became a CMA earlier this year. Accounting was totally right on this. It's a total waste of time because nobody knows or cares what a CMA is, even when I try to explain. I won't be renewing the annual membership.
The culmination of all these factors means that I will be stuck in small-company industry accounting, the best being a Controller managing a couple people, with probably $85K as my compensation cap for the rest of my life. It's infuriating to see other people - friends, family, and people younger than you - who made different career choices and are now making much more money. I'm sure the work is different, but I've worked extremely hard to make the career progression from an accounting clerk to Controller. But that doesn't really mean anything at a small, private company. If you're fine with mediocrity, I guess this doesn't apply to you.
I know people will want to respond by saying that this wasn't their experience. Yes, and I'm positive that people who won the lottery, or born in a privileged environment, also didn't have my experience. If you're lucky and/or skilled enough to get into a Big 4 or get a public accounting job at a young age, then I guess you can ignore everything I said. I started off with nothing, and I have no connections to anyone who isn't a lowemiddle class person. I think if you really want to start off from the bottom, you need to get into computer programming/coding. Accounting, like most other careers, is for those who are well-connected. And the worst part is, accounting people get treated like garbage because we are not seen as revenue drivers. Even when I've made changes at my jobs to improve the bottom line, I'm still seen as only a cost. Walking into the office as an accountant is like reliving the same excruciating day in hell, over and over, with no way to climb out.

As the title says, I was a little too zealous in re-waxing my Barbour. It now has some white waxy buildup and some smears of wax on the outside of the jacket. What's the best way to correct this? Blow dryer and wiping the excess wax off? Or something else?
Thanks in advance.

2021.12.02 19:27 throwaway27777787 I (22f) stuffed my bra to send nudes to my bf (23) and I'm worried he can tell or he'll be disappointed if he sees the same bra irl and realizes

The title pretty much says it all. I've had a rough time with my body image lately and I know it's stupid and wrong but I stuffed my bra when I sent nudes to my boyfriend, I'm embarrassed and I'm worried it's obvious and he can tell, and I can't wear the same bra in front of him now or he'll know. We've been together for several months and he's seen me naked so I don't even know why I did this, but I'm very worried now.

2021.12.02 19:27 kyranzor Construction methods for romanesque villas

Anyone have any tricks for making a Roman style villa which is laid out as a square with a hollow/open courtyard in the middle, where the building has 4 faces, where 2 faces are flats/dormitories and 1 face is toilet+baths, and 1 face is a canteen/pub? The center courtyard would have a well and hearth and trees and statues.
I estimate the outer dimension to be 40-45 tiles.
The villa can have strips of vegetables, fruits, grain, and possibly small animal yard on the outer 4 sides, with walls/fences around the overall villa area.
The trouble I'm having (not having spent more than 15 minutes on it) is a quick/efficient way to create the monolithic building/floor plan and then filling in the rooms to fit the description above. I tried looking at the 'stone building' tool which allows me to make a generic square building with pre-allocated doors, but it doesn't handle the inner courtyard area and it doesn't allow me to choose where the doorways end up.
I don't really want to have to make a specific room to be able to do the floor plan.. I could make some cheap/empty rooms and then delete the room later , leaving an empty structure. Once this is done, how can I make a template/copy-paste this design?
Can you copy+paste entire clusters of building+room layouts? Or just one room at a time?
